According to EUPD Research, Ukraine's energy system has shown resilience despite the war's impact on infrastructure. The chart reveals a sharp decline in solar PV installed capacity from 2,727 MW in 2019 to minimal levels by 2022 and 2023, reflecting the devastating effects on the conflict. With an estimated solar energy potential of 39 GW (vs. 59 GW pre-war total generation), Ukraine is focusing on decentralized energy, including rooftop solar, as a solution for energy security and rebuilding efforts. As large-scale projects remain vulnerable, smaller installations are key to the country's sustainable energy future.
